Cialis FAQ

Cialis FAQ – What you should know about Cialis

How does Cialis help in overcoming erectile dysfunction?

Cialis is a PDE-5 inhibitor, which makes it closely like (but not identical) to other ED drugs such as Levitra or Viagra. These drugs wok by suppressing the PDE-5 enzyme, which normally keeps the muscles at the base of the penis in tension and prevents the blood from flowing normally into the penile shaft. When Cialis suppresses the enzyme and relaxes the muscles more blood is able to flow into the penis, which results in a harder erection that last for a longer period of time.

How should I take Cialis?

Cialis should be taken only when needed as there’s no strict schedule in how to consume it. However, make sure to take the exact dosage prescribed to you by the doctor, do not exceed or lower the prescribed quantity and do not take the drug more than once in 24 hours. Cialis can be taken with or without food, however be cautious when taking fatty meals as they can lower the effectiveness of the drug. Do not take Cialis with alcohol as it increases the risk of experiencing negative side effects of Cialis.

Are there any precautions when using Cialis?

Never take Cialis if you are consuming nitrate-based drugs (used for treating chest pain and heart diseases) such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate and isosorbide mononitrate, as well as street drugs known as “poppers”. Mixing PDE-5 inhibitors with nitrates results in dramatic blood pressure drops that can have severe and even lethal consequences.

A range of medical conditions will require your doctor to adjust your dosage of Cialis respectfully. So make sure to inform your physician if you have any of the following: heart diseases and recent heart complications (strokes, attacks); liver or kidney problems; blood pressure problems; chest pain; bleeding or blood cell disorders; stomach ulcer; medical restrictions on having sex.

What should I avoid when taking Cialis?

Don’t take Cialis with alcohol. Mixing these two substances is likely to result in experiencing negative side-effects of the drug. Grapefruit, grapefruit juice and grapefruit products are know to interact with Cialis, so discuss your diet with your doctor before taking Cialis if it includes some of these products. Do not mix Cialis with other medications used for treating erectile dysfunction (herbal or prescription) unless your doctor tells that it’s safe for you to do that. Do not modify your dosage without asking your doctor first.
